Suffolk Archives required an identity to reflect its position as keepers of the county’s diverse, 900 year heritage. Their responsibility is to engage, connect and inspire the largest and most diverse audience possible – to be an archive for all.
Located within Ipswich’s unique and regenerating Waterfront, The Hold safely houses the bulk of Suffolk’s nationally and internationally significant archives. The development is the catalyst for a transformed, audience-focused service, which can better reach diverse communities in Ipswich, the county and beyond.
The instantly recognisable visual language of the ‘tree of life’ is used as a simple, bold and distinctive marker.
The font ‘Oswald’ has been used to create a unique typographic mark that references the historical arrival of the poster as a display typeface designed to attract attention.
The linear tree design is used across signage, digital and print to create a universal language that helps people plan their present and future.
